Last year I discovered there is one thing I absolutely, hands-down must do at the beginning of the day or I’m dead in the water – have a quiet time.
Waking up to a quiet house, sitting with God and reading his Word became the prerequisite for a good, God-honoring day. Without it, I might have a decent day, but I found myself with fewer and smaller stores of grace, patience, and peace if I neglected my morning devotions. Without spending adequate time filling up on His Word in the morning, I couldn’t hope to pour myself out in ministry to others.
So, I made a commitment at the beginning of 2013 to build a better quiet time. But I knew I needed help to stick with it, so I joined up with some like-minded ladies of HelloMornings.
This summer I had the privilege of leading a HelloMornings group on twitter. If we’re connected on twitter, you’ve probably seen me chatting back and forth with my group #strong13 – which I co-host with my friend Kristol.
This fall, we’re starting a new quiet time challenge, and I’d love for you to join my group so I can pray for you and encourage you in your commitment to spend time with Him each day. The fall challenge runs from Aug. 19 – Nov. 15 and could be one sure way you can set yourself up for ministry success this fall.
How do I register for HelloMornings?
How does HelloMornings work?
Each morning you check in with your group. You can say “Hi, I’m up, drinking my coffee, and excited to dig into the Word!” or “I’m barely alive, but breathing!” Then, after you’ve had your devotions, you can share with your group what you’ve learned or even just a simple Bible verse.
My twitter group also shares prayer requests and gives updates on progress we’ve made through the challenge.
Why accept the HelloMornings Challenge?
I hope to see you in the #strong13 group next fall. Sign up begins today, Aug. 5, and ends Aug. 14 – or until the group fills up!
You don’t have to be a blogger or in a specific season of life – this is open to all women who sign up in time! See you there!
What do you do for your quiet time? Do you have an accountability partner? What book or part of the Bible do you read? Share your thoughts!
