I’ve been biting my nails, anticipating today, like it’s Christmas morning! Because today, I’m launching my new Bible study geared for new Bible students and the teachers leading them. And I have a really big, really sweet gift to give away!
the book
Sweeter than Honey: Cultivating an Appetite for the Word of God is a five-week discipleship guide based on Psalm 19 that offers first-time Bible students and their teachers hands-on cooking lessons for feasting on the Scriptures, helping them become women of the Word.
Part 1 helps women cultivate an appetite for God’s Word and the One whom the Bible is about, Christ, the Living Word.
Part 2 contains simple and practical steps for self-feeding on God’s Word despite busy schedules or the lack of a biblical ground.
For new Bible students
New students of the Bible will learn how to study the Bible by:
–Cultivating an appetite for God’s Word (and learning what keeps you from desiring it!)
–Reading the Bible contextually
–Interpreting passages based on what the author intended to say
–Faithfully applying the Bible’s principles (without resorting to legalism)
and most importantly…
–affirming the trustworthy nature of God’s Word
For new Bible teachers
Great books on how to study the Bible abound. But what sets Sweeter than Honey apart from the rest is it is also written for Bible study teachers and women’s ministry leaders – particularly first-time teachers or leaders who are discipling women from an unchurched background.
Discipling unchurched women looks differently from discipling women who have grown up in the church. Sweeter than Honey takes those differences into consideration and, together with the free Leader’s Guide, offers teachers a step-by-step guide for helping new believers learn how to prepare a meal from God’s Word.
New Bible study teachers will learn how to guide other women through the Scriptures with:
–Ideas for engaging the heart of an unchurched woman
–Tips for working with groups of different sizes
–Info for hosting the material as apart of a women’s ministry event or retreat
–Tools for explaining how the Bible came to be and why it’s trustworthy
–Access to free printables and visual aids for Bible study
–A simple, reproducible method for Bible study
–A 31-Day Reading Challenge discipler and disciples can take together
Sweeter than Honey is for any woman who wants to become a woman of the Word – a woman who craves the sweetness of the Scriptures because she has tasted the sweetness of her Savior. It is my hope that this book both encourages you and equips you to nourish yourself on God’s Word each day and to invite others to his lavish table!

Bees + polka dots.
I hope you feel loved.

Depending on what season I’m in scripture can become bitter, bland or sweet to me. I don’t think that Gods word changes with the seasons only the emotional reaction to the word will vary in my heart depending on the season I’m in 🙂
I have experienced all three seasons of reading scripture in my life as a follower of Christ. Right now I am preparing to begin a Women’s Bible Study for our church plant beginning in September and this book seems like exactly what the women of our church need!
I’m so thrilled about this! God has put discipling women on my heart for a long time, and I’m sure this will be SUCH a resource for so many women who are reaching out to “unchurched” women in their community. I loved your series on discipling unchurched women. I shared it with my Facebook fans! LOVE IT! Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of this!!
I am SO excited about this! I am stepping out in faith and will be facilitating a study this fall using God’s Word – NO Bible study books as has been the routine for the past several years for our ladies. This will be a great resource as I prepare!
I agree with Stacey. Scripture is sweet, bitter, and bland at different seasons in my life. I’d love to remember its sweetness more often!!
I would adore to win this giveaway because I really need to deepen my relationship with my Heavenly Father. Sometimes when I do read the Bible it is bland and I’m just not into it. That needs to change for our relationship to grow and I would be very grateful for any tools that would help me accomplish that. God bless!
This looks fantastic. Congrats on wiring this study. I’m excited to dive in. This entire series on discipline up women has been wonderful!!
More importantly than winning the items, I am excited about doing the bible study. But I also like to win things! LOL! Many people get discouraged and give up when studying the bible. I’m excited
Though my day to day interaction with the Word may waver from bitter to sweet, I can testify to the overwhelming sweetness of the scriptures to sustain and encourage and convict as well as bring hope and life through the gospel. I pray many women know this same sweetness! May the Lord use your book and your ministry to that end, for His kingdom and His glory!
This looks like a study that I can do!
Just found your site through a search for speakers for a women’s event. The study sounds wonderful and just what is needed for first time students and leaders! Thank you for your contribution to discipleship through God’s Word. Many blessings on your ministry and your family!
In this current season, scripture is sweet although I have experienced the others in other times of my life! As a pastor’s wife, I’m so excited about this new resource for new believers in our church!!
scripture is spicy 🙂 it can sugar sweeten your spirit & cayenne kick you in the face when your wrong
What a fantastic topic for a book. I’m excited to get my hands on a copy and use this for my ladies group! From what I can see, I really like your organization of the leader’s guide and, for my group, this would be a perfect option. Good for beginners and for those who already dig deep!!
Thanks so much for the giveaway offer – and, more importantly, a great resource to use with our ladies.
Thank you for creating such relevant and needed materials! Your love for the Word is inspirational and contagious!
This would be an awesome study to use as I lead and disciple single mom’s in the ministry the Lord has placed me in. God’s word is sweeter than honey! Thank you for this opportunity!
I have a Teacup Widows Ministry with a retreat in August 8-10, 2019. Also I am speaking for a group of widows on March 22, 2019. Sweeter than honey. Talking about what is in our cup and if we are bumped what comes out? is it harshness, bitterness, and is it sweetness?
I would love to have one of your goodie bag to give away at this event. You can check out Teacup Widow’s Ministry on Facebook. This is my 16th year. God has given me favor upon favor. “Lord you have assigned me my portion and my cup, Psalm 16:5 Thank you for your kind consideration.
